After many interesting comments and hangups from the public on the business name(InterNetworking Link), time has come to consider doing business with a name that is more pleasant to pronounce and easier to remember. That might sound like an easy thing to do, yet the process has proved it to be something else.
First, the name must be available not only in the real world but also in the internet world of domain names. Second, the name must be intuitive in that it should quickly bring to the mind of the hearer what type of business we are in. Last, the name should be simple and short.
At the inception of the Company, InterNetworking Link was chosen(Interconnecting, interlink, internetlink, … were all already taken) because it came close to the original idea of what we wanted to do, that is offering short and long distance wired and wireless connectivity services(Telematics) between computers to allow companies to enhance their operating environments and hence their productivity. In the rest of the world, such services are referred to as telematics, a word blending telecommunications and informatics. In the US, the equivalent concept is encapsulated in the acronym ICT(Information and Communications Technology) and the word Telematics primarily refers to systems within road vehicles.
Since the choices were limited and inspiration was low as is common with technology oriented brains, the choice of InterNetworking Link was very gratifying. Then, we noticed that people were pronouncing it Internet-Working Link instead of Inter-Networking Link. Well, we chose to ignore the phenomenon until it became impossible to do so especially when most people were struggling to say or remember the name.
All the above bla-bla to say that InterNetworking Link will soon be doing business under the name “itxp” and that the business website is now also accessible at http://www.it-xp.com
